“Green is a process, not a status. We need to think of ‘green’ as a verb, not an adjective” – Daniel Goleman
This April 15 – 28 would be extra special as we call out to all to come over to Compass One to donate fresh food like bread, vegetables and fruits, electronic waste and used clothes. For the first 200 shoppers who donated fresh food/ electronic waste/ clothes at Level 2 atrium, we will be giving away a collapsible cup (300ml).
In December 2018, Compass One and Food Bank Singapore came together to acquire donated food from the public. With the help of residents and shoppers, many has made this possible donating non-perishable food items. Non-perishable food items like rice, noodles, seasoning, canned food, snacks and many more were collected and redistributed to the network of beneficiaries like family service centers, soup kitchens, senior activity centers and other organizations. In a short span of 3 months, we have saved a total of 640.3kg of food!
We collaborated with Virogreen in February 2019 to collect e-waste. The e-waste recycling bin focuses on generating information for the general public on the issue of E-waste and to empower people to take action in the resolution of this problem. This event is intended to use this opportunity to create awareness and for shoppers to deposit their e-waste.
Here’s the downside of living in a shopping paradise; We are guilty of having more than we need. Last year in March 2018, we have worked with our vendor to collect a total of 1.7 ton of fabric/clothes! This April, in conjunction with Earth Day, we took the liberty to collaborate with our vendor again to help conserve natural resources and reduce environmental pollution.
Compass One very first initial project was to dress up the lift lobbies to share about the little steps that one can contribute towards a greener world. At each level of our lift lobbies, we have shared some information on the recyclables and non. Furthermore, we also shared some take away tips that one can reduce their carbon footprint.
